  1. Tonight 4/10 at 6 pm the Homewood Children's Village will be hosting a 'Name Night' for the 7219 Kelly St. early childhood space.  The space's official name will be chosen.
  2. Saturday 4/13 from 8 am - 4 pm will be the KaBOOM! big volunteer playground build.  It will be on land next to the Kelly St. space and more than 200 volunteers are expected to attend.  Come out and help  if you can.
  3. Thursday 4/18 at 9 am will be our next HELEN Steering Committee meeting.  I'll send out the agenda in a few days.
  4. Saturday 4/20 from 12-4 pm will be the Early Learning Block Party to open the Kelly St. space and the new KaBOOM! playground.  Let Cynthia Battle (cbattle@paeyc.org) know if you would like to send someone from your organization to man a table.
  5. Tuesday 4/23 from 5 am - 6 pm will be the bus trip to Harrisburg Action Day.  Transportation, lunch and snacks provided.  We have 28 more slots available on the bus that will be leaving from the Homewood YMCA at 5 in the morning.  Most of the folks who have signed up so far are child care providers and staff so it would be great to get some more representation from your organizations!

I got this information via email for H.E.L.E.N staff.

Eat Great Foods and Play All Day in the New App for iOS, Go NiNi!
The Fred Rogers Center Early Learning Environment (Ele) just added a brand new free app for iPhones and iPads call Go Nini!

Go Nini is a game for children ages three to five that helps young children and their caregivers understand the importance of healthy food choices and active play.  The app encourages conversation between adults and children about healthy food and daily activity.

Children help NiNi run, jump, and stay active over the course of a day by choosing from a range of foods.  Chilren learn about Go, Slow, and Whoa foods:  GO foods are good to eat anytime, SLOW foods are only good to eat sometimes and WHOA foods are only good to eat once in a while.
